Chalalan thundercloud

The moon almost full, almost clear sky and stars visible in the moonlight and a growing thundercloud – all mixed in with a soundscape so loud and varied that I have decided to purchase a proper recording device so I can share it in the future.

The moonlit nights are special in many ways, but as far as the animals are concerned, they behave different in this setting. The Hoatzins started with some really weird sounds I have not heard before – not the usual Magpie-like squawks.

Chalalan Lake by night

In the jungle the weather never stays the same for long, and as you can see in the 1-hour time-lapse, it changed surprisingly fast from clear to clouds to clear again.

The flashlights coming in at the end are some of the guest checking out the nocturnal life, like the Black Caiman.
