A gray cracker (Hamadryas februa) is not easy to spot when resting. On a tree not far from the Cuiaba river in Porto Jofre I saw several species of crackers in the typical upside down posture.
You rarely see them up close or on the ground, so sometimes a long lens is the only way to get a decent shot.
The name cracker is based on the sound it sometimes makes – a cracking sound – which to date I’ve not heard.
