Cartilage Caper (Capparis cartilaginea) is an incredible plant species which can grow dangling from sheer cliffs, but this one was growing on the beach of Shuab in the west of Socotra and thus easily accessible for my and my camera to capture the stunning flower.
Native range is Egypt to Tanzania, West Asia to Northwest India, Arabian Peninsula, West Indian Ocean.
Here an example of its “acrobatic” abilities – this one is hanging over the ocean and was used by an osprey (you can see it in this picture, which gives an idea of the size of the plant!), so it has a firm grip!
