Haghier mountains, Socotra

If it weren’t for the Dragon blood trees (Dracaena cinnabari) this could easily be taken for a high-altitude location perhaps in Eurasia.

Judging by the height and density of the vegetation you can tell there is far less water reaching the ground here than on the higher elevations where the vegetation rises to trees and forests. This is what makes Socotra so incredibly species rich as there are specialists unique to a certain altitude from sea level to 1500 meter elevation. Many species only exist on Socotra, which makes this island one of the most precious pieces of life on the planet.

Also called Hageher or Hajhir mountains.
