Hypericum balfourii

Socotra is the only place on earth I have encountered hypericum trees!

The Haghier mountains of socotra is home to many species of hypericum, but this one reigns supreme. I didn’t have time to look into the regeneration of this particular species, but the hypericums are in general left alone by the goats and cattle roaming freely here. Despite this the seedlings might have a hard time escaping the trampling, and that leaves only the gaps in the dense vegetation they do not venture. Hopefully the regeneration is sufficient to keep the species stable.
