Such a precious event – a female hawksbill sea turtle, a critically endangered species, covering her precious eggs laid in the sand. She is one of a dwindling number of individuals of this critically endangered species.
She must be so hot as this is during the hottest part of the day, yet she endured. Most are finished long before the sun is high, but for some unknown reasons she did not time the process well this time. Yet her cargo is more likely to hatch here than most other places as this island (Bird Island) is protected, and all turtle nests are closely monitored. This individual is also tagged on each flipper, and has been here many times before.
