Rainbow-bearded thornbill (Chalcostigma herrani) is one of few high altitude hummingbirds, and not easy to get up close with unless you know it’s favorite specimens of flowering plants in its territory, to which it will return to over and over again.
This was the only encounter of my time in Ecuador, albeit from a considerable distance.
