This is my second time on Socotra. I visited at the exact same time 8 years ago in 2015, and same thing – all the caralluma socotranas were past their blooming prime.
I need to visit a couple of weeks earlier to see this species filled with flowers. Two flowers is not much, but at least they are there and a great sight to behold. After they are gone this plant will blend in with the environment and be almost invisible, until the next winter rains.
Native range is East & South Ethiopia to Kenya, Socotra.
