At this stage the inflorescences of the Dirichletia obovata look like hortensia, but in fact the flowers are long gone and fallen to the ground. The flowers, or corollas, are purple, bluish to pink and incredibly sweet scented tubes growing out of what is seen here.
Dirichletia obovata is endemic to Socotra.
