The leaves of meconopsis bella are lobed vs unifoliate in meconopsis zangnanensis. Magnus Lidén (Symbolae Botanicae Upsalienses vol. 40) uses meconopsis bella subintegrifolia (meconopsis zangnanensis) for the unifoliate form.

Native range of meconopsis bella is Nepal to West Bhutan and South Tibet.
